What do all these women have in common? They're sexy, and they're confident, and they're in the media. Last week, Lane Bryant launched their #imnoangel campaign, and I think it is a positive thing for women and girls. I wish there had been an ad campaign like this when I was a teenager, flipping through Delia magazines wondering why I didn't look like those girls.
These women are stunning. I mean, they are models, but just seeing bodies in different shapes and sizes is something we're seeing more frequently in fashion and the media. You can be sexy at any size, and I think that helps to push that message. This isn't just about sex or selling sex, these women are selling the idea that you don't have to change your body to be happy. That's something we have needed for a long time.
You can watch the campaign video here.
None of this is to say that skinny is anything to be ashamed of, either. All bodies are beautiful, and having confidence in yourself is the most alluring. It's good to remember this, when so much around us says that you need to change to be happy. I even see it in blogs, where the picture perfect, diet perfect content is held up and realism isn't.
Eat what makes you feel good, move how you like, and smile!
