Rainy Day Date at Local Lime
Isn't that salad just beautiful?! I have already done a review of Local Lime, but we had such a good date there a few weeks ago, that I had to write about it again.
Josh and I headed out to West Little Rock on a rainy Sunday to enjoy lunch and a movie. We rarely ever eat at Local Lime, and I don't really know why. I guess it's because Big Orange (owned by the same people, the local Yellow Rock Concepts) is out there as well. Not a problem to have so much good, local food, that's for sure.
One great thing is that vegan items are clearly marked, so it makes ordering a lot easier. Even if something is listed s vegetarian, I've found it's very easy to modify to make vegan, which is what I did on this trip.
We ordered a drink and some appetizers and perused the menu. It took me a really long time to decide which salad I wanted, but eventually I landed on the Acapulco Salad with the vegan vinaigrette instead of the standard dressing.
While we waited for our lunch, or starters arrived. We had the house salsa, the chipotle, and the mango. The chipotle was warm and by far my favorite, because it had slightly sweet notes and a good kick. I also tried the guacamole, which was super fresh and tasty.
The crispy chips are really great, too. I usually throw a stink if we go to a Mexican restaurant that charges for chips and salsa, but these are incredible and worth the cost. They'll refill your chips, too, so don't worry.
My salad was spicy, sweet and decadent. Look at all that avocado! The papaya was sweet and juicy, and the shaved jalapeno gave it a good kick. I wish they'd done something to the hearts of palm, like grill them, but they were still a good addition to the salad.
After lunch, we saw Chappie, which we both really loved. Great date day!
Do you like to do lunch and a movie? What are some of your favorite places to eat on a date? Leave me a comment!
