OMFG Whole Foods
Our new Whole Foods opened last week, and my instagram account was flooded with vegans I know around town flipping out about how amazing the new store was. I knew I had to check it out, so on Saturday, Josh and I headed out to grab lunch there and walk around the store.
It was a rainy, dreary day, and the parking lot was packed. I mean, people were circling in search of a parking lot. You would have thought everyone in Little Rock was dying to check out the new Whole Foods. Architecturally, I think the shipping container look is interesting, and they do utilize some of the space it creates as interior seating. We had a tiny Whole Foods before, so I'll take any increase in store size and delicious vegan food.
We squeezed past the produce section, the store isles, to the left side of the store, which is a huge open area of salad bar, hot food bar, and a side wall lined with a bar, the deli, a pizzeria, and a bakery. This is a huge upscale from our last Whole Foods, and I was giddy to see all the lunch options.
I settled on the Fried Tofu for a very simple reason. When living in Fayetteville, I would check the hot food menu at Ozark Natural Food daily, in hopes that the fried tofu would be for lunch that day. Our old Whole Foods never had a good variety on their hot food bar, so I was always disappointed. So, when I saw the huge slabs of fried tofu, I knew I had to try one. To go along side, I scooped up some brussels sprouts, veggies, and roasted beets. It was the perfect lunch.
Perhaps my new favorite thing about our Whole Foods is the bar. Not only can you fill growlers from local breweries, you can grab a pint and eat your lunch at the bar.
I'm sure I'll find myself back at our new Whole Foods a lot, because there is a variety of grab-and-go items for vegans.
Just look at all the vegan cheese! While the store is bigger, I'm not sure how much more vegan products are offered vs the old store. There's definitely more grab and go eats, but only time will tell how many new products I'll be able to try. The isles were packed, so we didn't shop around too much. We did grab ingredients to make a killer dinner, but I'll tell you about that another time.
*** I have no contact at all with Whole Foods. I'm simply writing about it since we got a new one and there's a ton of new vegan options. I'll always tell you if I'm bringing you a product or a brand because I was contacted. In this case, I'm just very excited about our new options.
Do you get grab-and-go lunch or dinner from Whole Foods? Do you shop there, or think it's too expensive? Leave me a comment!
