I thought as my first non-goal/recap post of 2015, I would share with you my absolute favorite meal of 2014. I know it took me until 2015 to tell you about it, but seriously, this was the best thing I had all year.
You guys, Little Rock has vegan dumplings. Not just any dumplings, but Nepalese momos! The food truck scene here in town has been growing and offering more veg friendly menu items, but this, I think, is the most exciting.
I heard tale of these fantastic dumplings on the internet, so I started doing a little research. When I got to Katmandu Momo's facebook page, I saw that their menu items were CLEARLY marked vegan. That's a girl's dream.
So, on the last Food Truck Friday before winter, I headed downtown to try out these beauties. Oh.my.god.
It was a beautiful, crisp Friday afternoon, and I needed something to warm me up. Luckily, these spicy little dumplings were just the thing. As I placed my order, they informed me that they only had 4 VEGGIE MOMO LEFT! They are very popular, which says good things for the veg community in Little Rock. So, I ordered the last four.
I ordered the vegan fried rice and the spicy potato salad as well. The momo's were hot, spicy, and full of ginger and garlic notes. They were a little on the oily side, but they were really good. The spicy potatoes were a cold potato salad, which I did not expect. It really complimented the hot dumplings. The fried rice was sticking and full of deep flavors.
Next time you are in the area, I would highly recommend chasing down Katmandu Momo. You can check out their facebook page to see their lunch locations around town. They're so great, and I can't wait to eat it again.
After eating those dumplings, I was all smiles, and I couldn't stop talking about them for weeks. Go get some, now!
Leave me a comment! Have you tried Katmandu Momo? --or-- Do you have vegan momo's where you live?
