Our Whole Foods has a smoothie called the funky monkey, and when I feel like a treat, I head over and get one. Their smoothies are 5 or 6 dollars, though, which seems a bit ridiculous. So, I decided I needed to recreate it. A few ingredients here, a dash of something there, and I nailed it. I'm now afraid that I'll want this for breakfast and lunch every day.
FUNKY MONKEY SMOOTHIE
- 1 serving chocolate protein powder - or - 1 tbs cacao powder and (optional) 1 scoop vegan protein powder
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 large tbs almond butter
- 1 tbs maca powder
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1/2 cup ice
- 1 cup water
Blend until smoothie, and jump for joy at how delicious your smoothie turned out.
This may seem like something so simple to devote an entire post to, but it's that good. This smoothie is also jam packed with protein, and it will keep you full and satisfied for hours and hours.
