I don't know about you, but this girl celebrates her birthday for a solid week. Unfortunately, this year I was too covered up with work to really do a whole lot around my actual birthday. I still managed to have enough celebrations to fill a week of posts, so I deem this 2nd week of Vegan Mofo my birthday week! Now, I turned 29 at the end of August, so I'm on a bit of a delay. No matter, though. There are no rules when it comes to Birthday Week!
Like, if you want to have two pieces of cake paired with champagne and red wine for dinner, do it! My actual birthday was a huge deadline at work, so by the time I left the office I was utterly exhausted. I didn't even have the energy to go out to dinner, which we had planned to do. So, Josh met me at Whole Foods, and we filled a basket full of birthday treats.
All I wanted to do was eat cake and make grilled cheese sandwiches, so that's exactly what we did. First, though, can we talk about this cake???
We got home from work and I immediately dove into a glass of red wine and the chocolate cake. It was amazing. I happily let Josh help me with half of it, because I needed to save room. Later in the evening, I had a few bites of this carrot cake, but I saved most of it for breakfast the next day. Post birthday breakfast cake should be mandatory.

It's ugly, but it was great! Even though the day was stressful, it was a great birthday! After much pressuring, Josh finally got me to watch Arachnophobia, something he has been trying to do for years. Luckily, I fell asleep during the really scary parts!
