LR Restaurant Review: Sky Modern Japanese
When I found out I passed my test last week, I was completely shocked and excited! I had checked my score in the morning, so I spent the time I should have been getting ready for work screaming on the phone to my loved ones. I barely put clothes on and brushed my hair before it was time to head to the office. That left no time to make up my smoothies for the day.
Josh offered to take me to lunch in celebration, but I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine with him, so we decided on dinner. So, I headed to lunch with my coworkers. We decided to try out Sky Modern Japanese. None of us had gone, but we all really enjoyed it. It's in the Pleasant Hills shopping center on Highway 10.
We walked in to a comfortable and modern restaurant, with a small hibachi grills. We decided to just order off the regular menu, which was delicious. I was feeling quite elated and hungry, so I ordered a bunch of food to try.
I put in an order for fusion fried tofu, and I asked if I could have a salad AND soup. I love a good, non creamy ginger salad, which this was. The miso was good as well.
We also got some avocado rolls. They are, by far, my favorite thing to order in a sushi restaurant. I have tried a lot of different kinds of veggie rolls, but there is something perfect about an avocado roll. These were really tasty.
Lastly, the fusion fried tofu came with a spicy peanut dressing and sauteed vegetables. Yum and yum. The tofu was really lightly fried, and the vegetables were delicious. The portions, I thought, were good, too. Especially since I'd just eaten my weight in appetizers.
Being so close to my office, I will definitely be trying this restaurant out again. I'm a big fan of Japanese cuisine, and Sky Modern Japanese did not disappoint.
