Cookbooks I'm Craving

There seem to be new vegan cookbooks coming out every day, and right now the internet seems to be flush with cookbooks featuring fresh, plant based, whole foods.  I'm very excited.  I want to buy all of them, and cook from all of them, at the same time.  However, I already have a pretty big (and growing) collection of vegan cookbooks, so before I snag up all these new beauties, I'm going to work my way through some other ones.  I cook and get inspiration from a lot of blogs, but sometimes I forget to crack open my cookbooks.  That's a shame, because these tested recipes are often so great that they become classics in our house (I'm looking at you, tofu scramble from Vegan with a Vengeance.)

Today, I wanted to share with you the cookbooks that I'm excited about.  I haven't snagged any of these yet, but my goal is to purchase and work through them this year and give you reviews.

The Oh She Glows Cookbook

I have been a huge fan of Oh She Glows for years.  Angela's recovery from an eating disorder, her positive examples of creating a good self image, and her beautiful food have really helped me in my search for a healthy vegan diet.  She is an inspiration to us all, so it's no surprise that everyone is a buzz about her new book.  This one is first on my list to buy.

Isa Does It

I know that this cookbook has been out for awhile, and I don't know why I haven't purchased it yet.  I love all of Isa's works.  I toyed with the idea of buying this one for the ipad awhile back.  You can preview it, and there are some pretty neat digital features that go along with that.  I have had the urge to buy all my new cookbooks digitally, but I went to Barnes and Noble the other day and held this book, and that made me want the physical copy.  This book is a lot bigger than I thought, as well, and the photography is beautiful.  I would imagine that it will be on my shelves soon.

The Blender Girl

There are not a lot of things I like more than my Vitamix, so when I saw that this cookbook was coming out, I got pretty excited.  I have been following The Blender Girl on Facebook for quite some time, so I think this cookbook will be quality stuff!

Thrive Energy Cookbook

Several years ago, I read Brendan Brazier's Thrive when I was trying to figure out what the optimal plant based diet looked like.  Then, when he launched Thrive Forward early last year, I was all over it.  His vega products were my first introduction to a real, high quality vegan protein, and I still use his energy gels when I go on long runs.  The products are great, and the message is clear:  High quality plant based foods can fuel any level of workout and life.  This new cookbook looks beautiful, and I'm sure it's packed with amazing meals that will be sure to keep you a kick ass, healthy vegan.

Paleo Vegan

This cookbook is a bit of a wild card for me.  "Paleo" is all the rage for so many dieters, but vegans have been left out of that for the most part.  There are tons of people out there living off bacon and broccoli to drop weight, but we vegans usually eat a fairly carbohydrate heavy diet for the most part.  Now, these two words don't seem to want to go together for me, but I have been spending the last year trying to eliminate processed carbs from my diet and focus on natural foods.  So, I thought I would give this one a shot.

ON MY BOOKSHELVES NOW

I have pulled out three cookbooks from my shelves to focus on for the next month or so.  At the end of March, I will be attempting to re-take my last subject for the Architecture Registration Exam, so cooking and blogging will be minimal for me.  I still need to eat, though.  So, you'll be seeing me review some recipes from these.

**  I have no affiliations with any of these cookbook authors of publishers.  The opinions on this blog are strictly my own.  I will always tell you if I have been contacted or compensated by anyone to share things with you on this blog.

  1. Love Isa Does It! It's definitely my favorite book by Isa ever. And I REALLY wanna get the Thrive cookbook.....that's been on my list since I first heard about it. I have all his other books, and I'm sort of a Vega fangirl.

i wish i could buy ALL THE COOKBOOKS! I have a bad habit of hoarding them and not cooking from them, so until I do, I need to hold off on any more purchases, haha.
