Your Journey is the Reward

A few weeks ago, I was really low.  I was looking back at another year that started off great but ended in more weight gain and depression than the year before.  It was hard to imagine that I'd written such things as Happy or How Yoga Changed My Life, because I didn't feel happy or changed.  It was hard to blog, because every time I posted what was going on with me, I felt I was letting you down.  Most times, I love being so open about what's going on with me, what my victories and falls are, but when you're really low, it's hard to be that honest.

Then things changed.  I started making the effort to take care of myself.  It's been 2 weeks, and I already feel like I've overcome everything I was struggling with at the end of last year.  That really does go to show that the journey does not reward you at the end, it rewards you for starting.  If you start to make really positive changes in your life, you will see those effects immediately.  You don't have to lose 20 pounds to finally feel like you're worth something, you have to make a positive decision for yourself that day.  I know you might be thinking that you have a long way to go, and you can never imagine accepting your body the way it is, but I'm here to tell you to try.  As someone who has spent most of her life NOT loving herself, this strange feeling is wonderful.  It's spilling into all aspects of my life, too.  I feel like I'm a better partner, sister, daughter, friend and employee.

Who would have though that 11 days of healthy eating, a little yoga and a little running would change me so quickly.  I feel like I'm bubbling with creativity, and it makes me want to post and report back to you CONSTANTLY (thus the large amount of blog posts lately.)  I hope that you are working towards your goals, and I hope that you are happy.  You are beautiful and worth every effort that you put into yourself.
