LR Restaurant Review: The Pantry
There are a lot of great, local restaurants in town, but one I always forget about is The Pantry. This is a crime. This restaurant is amazing. Josh and I ate here once about a year ago, and I loved my quinoa salad. So, when we got hungry last night, we headed there with our friends E+P for an amazing dinner.
The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, and as soon as I asked how the Local Mushrooms were made, he immediately asked if I was vegan. He then broke down the whole menu in terms of what I could have. Turns out, there are a lot of vegan options here! There are several apps and salads, and they can also make their stock pot bowl vegan using quinoa. Also, most of their sides are vegan, except the mashed potatoes and dumplings. I was very excited, and I'm itching to come back and try more!
These mushrooms are a must-try. They're made with olive oil and spices, and they arrive in a cute little stock pot. They were plump and delicious and a great way to start the meal. I decided on the seasonal salad, because I've had the quinoa salad already. The salad was spinach, avocado, carrots, shaved fennel and pistachios tossed in a deliciously light lemon dressing. It was perfect.
I got a side of sauerkraut, and it was delicious. It is served warm, with a hint of sweetness and a good amount of spices. I could have eaten another bowl! I want to come back and get a bunch of their sides as a dinner.
The whole meal, I kept "mmmmm" ing to myself. I was really impressed, and I can't wait to come back. The atmosphere is casual, but the food is great. We arrived around 5:30 pm on a Saturday night, and it was already filling up. By the time we left at 7 pm, the restaurant was packed. I would highly recommend giving The Pantry a try the next time you're in West Little Rock.
