Hello 2014!

Today was my first day back at work, and it was a good day.  I kept thinking it was Monday, but of course, it's Thursday.  My Arbonne Detox starts Monday, but I tried to eat well today.  Breakfast was lentil daal, spinach and carrots wrapped up in a wheat tortilla.  It was good and kept me full all morning.

For lunch, we went to try Little Greek in West Little Rock.  I went with my co-workers, who had never been either, and we were all pleasantly surprised.

I meant to put the falafel, which were really delicious, on my salad.  However, they came out first, so I ate them with hot sauce.  They were fresh and crisp and not too oily.  I ordered the Greek salad, no feta or potato salad, with the dressing on the side.  They served it with warm, delicious pita bread.  I was really impressed with the whole thing.  I'm pretty happy when beets come on anything, though.

This meal fueled me all through my day, plus a speedy 1.8 mile run after work.  It was cold!  I usually jog along pretty slowly, but after almost a mile, Josh met up with me and ran with me.  I was pacing around 13 1/2 minute miles, and we sped up once we got next to each other.  It was great.  He's a fast runner, so trying to keep up with his slow pace is a good workout for me.  We'll have to run together more.  We have less than 9 weeks til the Little Rock Half Marathon, and we have to start training heavily.  My health issues this year kept me from training like I would, so I won't be ashamed to walk some of it.  It will be fun, regardless.

I did a lot of thinking about my workout schedule tonight, and I made up a "best case" chart of workouts.  I know they are ambitious, but I like to schedule lots of things and try to do some of them.  I also picked up some Barre Amped DVD's to do in the morning, since I loved my class at Zenspin so much.

I suppose I was too hungry to take a proper picture of my plate before I dug into it.  The recipe is similar to this, this and this.  As you can see, we make this dish a lot.  It was delicious, and a good way to end the night.


  1. What's the drink? I thought you were doing a no alcohol January?

  2. diamond bear blonde beer. I'm starting my "no alcohol" along with the cleanse on the 6th. I do hope to limit alcohol to a small amount on the weekend after I re-introduce it, though. drinking during the week does not help me accomplish weight loss.
