Arbonne Detox Day 17, Holy Steamed Brussels, Batman!


Why I have never steamed Brussels sprouts in a pan, I will never understand.  I always roast them, but tonight, I changed it up.  Oh my goodness, they were fantastic.  I think tonight was the best dinner I've had the entire detox.

I had an amazing smoothie for breakfast, too.  This is my favorite combination, and it's so tasty!



blueberries + choc protein powder + 1 tbs chia seeds + 1 cup almond milk + 1 tbs almond butter

I'm not really sure what my problem was last night.  I suppose I was just worn down.  Today, I woke up feeling much better, but very hungry.  This smoothie really hit the spot.  Sometimes you just have to give yourself a day to rest and start again the next day!  Work was great today.  I'm working on an auditorium, and it's the beginning stages, so it's fun figuring things out.




Lunch was the same I've been having (vanilla protein, avocado, spinach, carrot and hemp seeds), and I threw in a lemon chew for a treat.  I'm actually warming up to these.  It's taken awhile to get over the texture, but they're not bad.



My clementine snack was ACTUALLY GOOD.  This batch at the grocery store has been incredibly disappointing.  My snack helped fuel me for yoga after work.  My lunar class is in a bit of a flux right now, because our wonderful teacher is out on maternity leave.  I liked the sub tonight, though, and I'm going to keep trying out the new teachers.  When I got home, I needed something nutritious and delicious.  So, I reached for the Brussels sprouts.




Pan Steamed Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients:
2 cups halved brussels sprouts (ends cut off)
1 tsp coconut oil
1 1/2 lemons

  • Cut ends off the brussels and cut them in half.
  • Warm up a pan on medium high heat.
  • Melt coconut oil.
  • Add brussels.
  • Add juice from lemons.
  • Cover the pan.
  • Steam for 10 minutes.
  • Open pan and stir.
  • Cover again and cook another 5 minutes on low.
  • Cook until brussels are soft, but not mushy.





I had my brusselies on the side of my Cauliflower Black Bean Soup.  I added a little vegetable stock to thin it out, because it was a little on the thick side.  Really, it was the best dinner I've had in a long time.  No salt needed; these babies are good.  Make this immediately!
