Spicy Green Juice

I really like starting the day off with green juice.  I guess I got out of the habit because it took a long time to chop all those veggies then clean the juicer.  I have mitigated that pain, though, by chopping everything as soon as I bring it home from the store and just rinsing out my juicer to be cleaned when I get home from work.  Seems to be doing well for me.

This morning, seeing as we had a bunch of hot peppers left over from chili night, I thought I would spice up my juice.

Spicy Green Juice

1 1/2 organic cucumber
1 lemon
1 Serrano pepper (yeehaw!)
4 stalks celery
1 green pepper
1 gala apple

For lunch, I broke out the zucchini noodle stacked salad I made up yesterday.  I brought dressing to go with it, but it wasn't needed.  These salads are already juicy!

Have I mentioned how much I like jar salads?!  They're the absolute best.  Later in the afternoon, I ripped open a cliff bar and had a snack before I got home to run.

It was cold and raining when I got home, but I laced up my sneakers and hit the pavement anyway.  I'm going to take full advantage of every day that I don't have pain, and it helped that Josh wanted to get in a run as well.  I started off light on my feet, and I stayed that way through the whole 1.8 miles.  It rained, and it was kind of cold, but I felt great.  I listened to hip hop and glided through the neighborhood, and it reminded me that I like running.

When we got home, we stretched and took the initial test for the 100 push up challenge.  My dream is to do a proper chaturanga in yoga, so I'm doing the push ups girl style on my knees with my elbows in.  I figure, if I can master this on my knees, I can repeat it on my toes.  Yay for goals!

Dinner was a big salad, a small bowl of chili and some cornbread.  I did pretty well all day not shoving food constantly into my mouth as I prepared meals, but it wasn't perfect.  It's definitely something I need to work on.  However, today was a good start off to the week, and I'm optimistic and feeling good!

  1. Oh lord, I'm the world's worst at shoving food in my mouth while I'm cooking. I need to work on that too. The run in the rain sounds lovely. I really miss running (still getting over the world's slowest healing stress fracture). And the green juice reminds me that I really need to invest in a new juicer. My old one bit the dust a few months ago.

    1. It's so hard not to shove food in my mouth!! AAH! I do it when I'm cooking all the time. I hope you get healed up and running soon. Our half is in march and it's super hero themed! I think I'm going to wear a cape. Maybe I can go as "Vegan Girl! Able to eat whole heads of kale in a single bite!" hehe. I am loving juicing again, especially spicy juice! I don't know why it took the cold weather for me to want juice and salads, but I'm going with it. haha.

I'd love to hear from you!
