Prepping for Surgery: Protein!

Tomorrow brings surgery part 2 for me, and I have been trying to eat pretty well to prepare.  Last time, I spent a lot of time eating ice cream and watching Downton Abbey.  It's been hard for me to get on the weight loss wagon knowing this was coming, so I have been trying my best to keep things in control.  I'm going to be out of work for at least a week, and I'm not sure how I'll be feeling.  So, I plan on taking it easy, and I won't be doing too much blogging.

The overachiever in me has resulted in a loooong list of things to do while I'm recovering, including learning Light Room, finishing two paintings and outlining a mural.  I also included in my plan a desire to make an entirely new eating plan and fitness regiment.  I told Josh my ambitious plans, and he revised my to-do list:

Dana's Recovery To-Do List:

Watch Masterchef
Feel better

I think his list is a more realist assessment of what's going to happen during my break, but hey, a girl can dream.  I may come back to you with a precise eating plan and vigor for weight loss, or I might come back and tell you how many Amy's Organic burritos I ate.  We'll see.

One thing, I know, is that a good thing to put in your body before and after a medical event is lots and lots of protein. So, on Sunday morning, I got to cooking.  I made up my low carb scramble and another batch of the quinoa salad recipe I tested for the new cookbook, Going Vegan.  Just wait until this cookbook comes out, because the quinoa salad is out of this world.  I rarely ever make recipes again as soon as they are all eaten, but this one was that good.

I brought this tofu scramble for breakfast today, with the quinoa salad along for a mid-morning snack.  Every meal that I got in today was full of veggies and protein.

The morning blew by, probably because I will be out of my office for a week and was trying to get all my ducks in a row, so by the time I looked up it was noon.  Since my coworkers were scrambling to get things done as much as I was, we paused for a second to order tropical smoothie.  I just learned that the chain has decided to keep Beyond Meat on their menu, which makes me really happy.  In celebration, I ordered their thai wrap with beyond meat.  Yum!  This wrap is good, although it doesn't exactly feel healthy since there aren't many veggies in it, and the sauce is pretty sugary.  It won't be on my new diet plan, but it was yummy.

The afternoon brought more frantic working, but I did get a chance to get in the snack I brought.  I ate it, because I thought I was heading to yoga afterwards, but a series of printer mishaps and a badly packed yoga bag led me to just head home after work.

So, no pre-surgery workout, but I'm trying not to stress out about it.  I have to just be kind to myself and not stress out about my workout schedule while I'm in recovery.  At least, that's what everyone is telling me.  Since I can't eat after midnight, I wanted to make dinner count.  So, I went for another quinoa salad and tofu scramble cabbage wraps.  Yum and yum.  I have the fridge stocked with lots of organic vegan frozen food, so my eating won't be terribly exciting for the next week.

So, I'm not sure how much you'll be hearing from me for the next week, but have no fear, I will return.  My mom is coming to stay for a night mid-week, so maybe she'll cook something yummy for me and I can blog about it.  Or... maybe she and I will lay on the couch watching Braveheart and eating Chinese takeout.  Either would be great for me.

I will post updates here and there, but stay tuned for a diet plan, a new vigor, and some serious weight loss effort!  Thanks for staying with me while I've spun my wheels all summer.  I know that I need to get my act together, and that's what I intend to do.

  7. Great news about your surgery Dana! You can catch up with Honey Boo Boo Child on TLC. Although last time I did, my college called me to revoke my degree. They said, "No thirty something year old gal should be watching that kid fart... then start laughing."

  9. This not only explains Rolex Replica Watches UK why IWC could not increase the water-resistance from 2,000 to 4,000 meters as Replica Watches UK initially planned, but also why the new Aquatimer 2000’s case turned out to be more Rolex Replica UK than 20 mm in height and also features one of the largest sapphire crystals currently available in an ultra-deep dive replica watch. So, even though the modern IWC Aquatimer 2000 may not have broken another record in terms of water resistance, it remains a technical milestone simply by upholding a record that was set 30 years before.thank you

  10. The Breitling Watches is my favorite style except the Panerai ASSO strap. Breitling is black leather band, while the front side of the leather is like brushed finishing, Fake Breitling Watches is more beautiful than those leather bands with polished bright face. The Replica Breitling is wide like the case, it has a big Bell Ross logo embossed on the leather. The leather of Louis Vuiton Handbags feels very soft to wear, not hard, and because made of genuine calf skin, it is durable.
