Lightbox Photos

To pacify my giant urge for a DSLR, Josh ordered me a lightbox a few days ago.  It came on Tuesday after we got home from surgery, and I finally got it out to play.  The box is huge, and I think it's going to work well for doing some better lit food photography.

Needing a break from laying on the couch, I decided to try and do a little cooking.  I saw this recipe for peanut butter balls on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and I saved it to make during my break.  I didn't have peanuts, so I used almonds, but these turned out really good.  They were really sticky, so rolling them in the chocolate chips was a little hard.  They were also much better after they sat in the fridge overnight.

I ordered a little adapter for the tripod so I can use my iphone with it, and I played with that a bit, but eventually I just held the phone to take shots.  I really can't wait until I get a proper camera.

Since the kitchen was already messy, I thought I'd try out another recipe from Going Vegan.  Recipe testing has been really fun, and I'm looking forward to this cookbook.  Today, I tried their recipe for mayo, and I'm happy to say that it turned out creamy, tangy, and very much like I remembered mayo.  It made a huge amount, so I'll be making coleslaw tomorrow.

Doesn't that look like mayo??  The recipe is super simple, and you'll be able to try it out when the cookbook hits the shelves!

Thanks to everyone for all your kind and encouraging comments.  I am feeling ok, but it varies day to day.  Unfortunately, I've been pretty laid out for most of the week, so I'm going a bit stir crazy.  I have been contemplating the new diet plan as promised, but mostly I've been looking at camera bags.  I'm thinking I'll be back to work Monday, and that means I'll be back to a healthy eating plan!

Because of my operation, I don't think I'll be back to working out until after next week.  That might be a good thing, though, because that means next week I can focus on eating really healthy.  More on that tomorrow!

I'd love to hear from you!
