I'm Back and Driving the Wagon

The hardest thing to do, for me, when on a major break is to get my head back in the game.  I returned to work on Wednesday, and it took a little while for me to adjust being back in my normal life.  I've spent the last week and a half sleeping, basically, so functioning like a normal human was a bit difficult.  I did, finally, craft a diet plan, and I have been doing my best to adhere to it.  The day was a little carb heavy, but since I haven't gone grocery shopping and the only thing in our house is jam and tesse cheese, I kind of ate what I could.  I plan on cooking a bunch this weekend, though.

I didn't get all the things done on my post-surgery to-do list, nor did I think I would, but I did watch all 4 seasons of MasterChef.  I love cooking shows.

Anyway, on to food!

Breakfast

I scrounged through the kitchen trying to find something to bring to work, and I ended up with coconut milk, protein powder and a pack of oatmeal.  It made a pretty good breakfast though.

Lunch

As we were all headed out to eat for lunch, I let the others decide where to go.  I figured, I haven't been here all week, and I don't know what they've eaten.  Of course, the picked Mexican food.  I have got to learn to stand up for myself more or just go to lunch by myself.  I couldn't resist eating a few chips, but I didn't eat the entire basket like I usually do.  My logic here was that I am building a way to eat for the rest of my life, and being really really restrictive in my diet will more than likely lead me to binge when I'm "off the wagon."  So, I had a few chips, ordered a salad, wrapped it up in a few corn tortillas and stopped when I was full.

Dinner

After work, Josh and I were exhausted, so we crawled in bed for a nap.  I ended up sleeping until 8 pm, so when I woke up I was pretty starving.  I didn't eat a snack at work, because I had such a large lunch.  We really have nothing to eat in the house, so I found some food in the pantry and freezer to make a meal.  Tasty Bites sent me some products to review awhile back, and I still have a few left.  This was good in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend making these a regular part of your diet.  I do think they'd be ideal for camping or traveling.  The channa masala was good.  I topped it with some frozen peas and just a small amount of daiya shreds.

After dinner, we thought it would be a good idea to watch the new Evil Dead.  The movie was great, but MAN was it scary.  We had to watch a solid hour of Bob's Burgers to take away that creepy, edgy feeling.

All in all, the day wasn't horrible and it wasn't great.  I tried to eat when I was hungry and stop when I was full.  Being mindful of my food choices is the most important thing.  I'm trying to build good habits.

    1. I was pretty happy to get a big box of them. The pad thai noodles were pretty amazing, especially topped with some raw cashews and sriracha!
