Much Needed Date Night

Today was one of those days where you go over your calorie count, you have a good time, but you don't beat yourself up about it.  Ultimately, I'd like to get to the point where feeling bad for eating a little too much is a thing of the past.  I'm getting there.  I think a structured weight loss plan is really good, but sometimes you have to enjoy yourself.

I broke out the vita-mix this morning and made a really yummy smoothie!

Lean Mean Green Smoothie!

1 1/2 c hemp milk (unsweetened)
1/2 frozen avocado (use non-frozen if you don't have a powerful blender)
1 scoop pea protein
2 cups baby spinach
1 tray of ice cubes

I'm really digging the "get 30 grams of protein in 30 minutes before waking."  Although it might not be 30 minutes, but my first meal lately has been jam packed with protein.

I had almonds as my morning snack.  Raw almonds are such a staple in my diet.  They're so good.  Work has been very fun lately, because I am sketching and diagramming.  I'm working on quite an interesting project right now.

Everyone wanted to go to Cracker Barrel for lunch.  I should have known this was a bad idea.  I went along, thinking that I could get a vegetable plate, but when I got there, I realized everything was cooked in ham.  After much grumbling and looking distraught, I settled on taking one of their salads and asking for pretty much everything left off.  This did put me in a position to eat food with a lot more carbohydrates than usual, but it was one meal, and to succeed in dieting or veganism, you have to be flexible.

This really was pretty delicious, in spite of the high carb count.  I spent the afternoon sketching and watching it rain out of my window.  The temperature dropped pretty dramatically, and all I wanted to do was go home and lay in bed.

I decided to skip out on yoga to hang out with Josh.  I really love spontaneous date night, and tonight was a really really good one.  We headed to our favorite place, US Pizza.  I decided that if I was going to eat here, I would enjoy it, and try not to stuff myself.  It was really amazing.

After dinner, we spent the night hanging out and playing Prince of Persia.  Josh and I both work a lot, and a good chunk of that is at night at home.  Our offices are in separate rooms, so even if we're at home, we're not always seeing each other.  It felt pretty special to just shut out everything and spend time together.  There was also a little drinking.  (gin + seltzer water + lime juice)

The damage wasn't too bad, and I had a spectacular night.  I highly recommend ever so often just completely unplugging and spending time with someone you love.

You may notice that I added my MFP weight loss ticker on the bottom.  I'm trying to concentrate on clothes and how good I feel, but it's nice that I'm moving in a better direction weight wise.  I did go clothes shopping this week, and most of the things I pulled out to try on were way too big.  Things are going well.

Now on to the weekend, with lots of yard work.

  1. Oooh, that US Pizza place sounds delicious. Is that in LR? I need to go there! I count calories too (not for weight loss, but for maintenance), and some days, you just have to go out and eat and drink whatever the hell you want and have fun!

    1. I think most of the US Pizza's are in Little Rock (they're all over the place) but there are a few in other cities in Arkansas. They are the best! They're always ready to slather on a bunch of guac to make up for the no-cheese on my pizza, and their veggie selection is great. We go there a lot, haha.
